TV watching as a favorite pastime
for individuals and families goes back for decades, from simple black and white
TV to the flat screen TVs we see today.
Furthermore, the evolution of TV
technology has seen a corresponding change in production of content as
companies opt to go digital with its originals.
Online TV show distributors such
as Netflix, Showmax, ViuSasa and IFlix have come up with what is termed
as On-Demand content where the audience chooses what to or not over a variety
of platforms including smartphones.
Sitting in front of the TV set in
time to catch a favorite show when it airs is no longer viable as people are
too busy, and moreover many now want to enjoy shows without commercial breaks.
LG has been a top player in the TV
design and manufacturing sector, as clearly evidenced by the recent rollout of
award winning OLED Smart TVs.
The coming few months will see LG
roll out the ThinQ artificial intelligence that supports voice control and
image processing. Voice control will integrate the smart TV with other LG smart
home devices creating a smart ecosystem.
LG’s East and Central
Africa Managing Director Janghoon Chung says: “Streaming on our new Smart TVs brings the future closer
than we ever realized. The on-demand capabilities in our devices has greatly
influenced brand choice when it comes to how customers go about buying their
TVs.”
Powered by LG’s α9 quad-core
processor, which capable of translating better picture quality, as the
processor provides improved noise-reduction, advanced color mapping, and
support for new standards like High Frame Rate (HFR) content, Hybrid Log Gamma
(HLG) and new HDR standards.
In Kenya, Internet connectivity is
currently at 89.4% and thus contributing to the On-demand
market for people to stream their favorite shows and have a full TV experience.
With this year promising many
interesting sports events such as Football World Cup, the Commonwealth games
and the ongoing Winter Olympics, TV is set provide an opportunity of a stadium
like experience with high-end quality of sound and picture.
The cold weather in the months of
June and July will more likely to encourage binge watching for all family
members with the World Cup coming up at around that time.
